King's Business - 1969-10

faith in the Bible as God’s in spired Word, delights Louis T. Talbot more than words can ex press. Most of all, he rejoices that Biola is unique even among Chris tian colleges in its requirement of 32 hours of Bible study, whatever one’s choice of major in 19 fields of study. Dr. Louis T. Talbot, upon his resignation from the Church of the Open Door, was asked by Biota’s Board to visit the mission fields where the alumni were la boring. This led to four around- the-world journeys and his secur ing a new insight into the tremen dous influence of Biola abroad. He brought back graphic motion pic tures which were shown along the Pacific Coast and in other parts of the country. As a result of their appeal, young people sur rendered their lives for foreign service, some coming to Biola for their training; older people in vested in missions as never be fore; and the entire missionary enterprise received a new im petus. In 1960 Mrs. Audrey Talbot went to be with the Lord after a long illness. Dr. Talbot went abroad for a time; took an in terim pastorate; re l i nqu i shed many of his duties, including his extensive radio ministry. He in sisted that “younger heads and hands” take over the various services. On February 5, 1964 he was united in marriage to Miss Carol Terry, Biola alumna who had spent sixteen years as a mission ary to India under the Ramabai Mukti Mission and who was obliged to leave that climate be cause of its effect on her eyesight. With their knowledge of the Word and of the Lord’s work at home and abroad, the Talbots form an effective team, although Dr. Talbot has not the strength to accomplish all he desires to do. All who love him and appreci ate what God has done through His faithful servant joined in the wish for a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and MANY MORE TO COME. ■n
