King's Business - 1969-10

While He was upon the earth, the Lord Jesus spoke of the false teachings and false Christs that would arise and definitely predicted: “Where fore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth; behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not” (Matt. 24:25). Jehovah’s Witnesses have Him in secret chambers! The witches’ cauldron of heresies brewed by this cult contains many more than our space allows us to mention, such as the teaching that the Holy Spirit does not mean “A person, or a creature, or being, but the invisible power of Jehovah God” (Riches, p. 188) ; the unmistakable “do-it-your self” salvation; the only heaven promised to be on this earth; soul-sleep; the denial of the blood shed for our salvation; the absence of joy, peace, con tentment or any fruit of the Spirit. Those who know the Lord should endeavor to show those deluded ones the true way of salvation and to warn others not yet involved against the Satanic devices of this organization. Particularly one should beware of the insidious first approach and the “back call” by which the names of Chris tians and others fall into the hands of this cult and remain permanently in their files. The earthly kingdom-theocracy they are building is not owned of the Lord Jesus Christ, nor of the true Jehovah of the Bible, and there is nothing in it for anyone except darkness and the condemnation of God.IE

pp. 256, 262). But God’s Word not only makes everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord clear and definite (II Thess. 1:7-9), but also uses the same Greek word to designate never-end ing hell which is used to describe eternal salvation. The Jehovah’s Witnesses have never been able to disprove this. Russell stated: “The dead are dead, utterly destroyed” (Studies in the Scriptures, V. 5, p. 347). Hell to them is utter annihilation of the wicked, but Jesus spoke of the “worm that dieth not and the fire that is not quenched.” JEHOVAH ’S W ITNESSES AND PROPHECY This cult reached the heights of absurdity in its predictions of the future. Russell stated plain ly: “Sometime before the end of A.D. 1914 the last member of the divinely recognized Church of Christ will be glorified with the Head: . . . The Gospel Age harvest will end October 1914 . . . and likewise the overthrow of Christendom so called must be expected to immediately follow” (Studies in the Scriptures, V. 2, pp. 77, 245). Rutherford explained why this did not come to pass: “In 1914 Jehovah set His Anointed One upon His throne; therefore at that time Christ Jesus took His au thority as King. Three and one-half years after ward, in 1918, the Lord came to His temple, which is the temple of God” (Prophecy, p. 73).
