A s C h r is t ’ s return draws near er, intercession for Christians ^becomes more urgen t. As temptations become stronger and sin more active, prayer is the means God has provided by which we strengthen our brethren in their fight against evil. What shall we pray for them? Many subjects come into mind; but what is vital? God has given us clear guid ance on the range of our inter cession. The Apostle Paul wrote two letters to the Thessalonian Christians. In both the theme of Christ’s return is prominent. He wrote them with his eye on the Parousia “as the goal of all Chris tian hope” (Geo. Milligan). In these epistles we hear Paul’s prayers for his fellow-Christians. They reveal the Holy Spirit's

guidance for our intercession as we live in the last days. Their importance is underlined when we see the subjects for prayer neglected today. Included in Paul’s praying was his thanks to God for the way the Thessalonian Christians had re acted to his presentation of the Word of God. They had accepted it wholeheartedly, “not as the word of ipen, but as it is in truth, the word of God” (I Thess. 2: 13). They had not ignored it or regarded it as the fallible utter ance of fallible men. We pray that the Word of God may have its full authority in the lives of our fellow-Christians. In the Bible God speaks to us, re vealing His will for our lives and also the blessing He is willing to give us. Being God’s Word it is THE K IN G 'S BUSINESS
