The program provides the following for applicants who meet HUD eligibility:  Taxi cab transportaƟon for essenƟal services including doctor appointments, trips to the grocery store or pharmacy, etc.  Eligible parƟcipants will be given a card voucher providing $100 per month for transportaƟon in the Dallas and Ellis County area Those wishing to parƟcipate are encouraged to email TransportaƟon@desototexas.gov or call 972.230.7350 for more informaƟon. That number receives voicemails only. Please leave a message and your call will be returned within 24 hours. City of DeSoto To Hold Public Meetings on the Transportation Assistance Program

Workshops to explain the program, eligibility criteria, and provide assistance with the applicaƟon process will be held on October 8, 2018 at 10 am and at 5 pm in the City Council Chambers at the Jim Baugh Government Center, located at 211 E. Pleasant Run Road. The applicaƟon form will be available beginning October 8, 2018 at 10 am on the City website at www.desototexas.gov and during both the 10 am and 5 pm workshops on October 8, 2018. It will include a list of mandatory documents and forms that must be included with the applicaƟon submission in order for it to be considered complete and ready for evaluaƟon. Approval for the TransportaƟon Assistance Program will be limited to a "first completed applicaƟon received" basis. It is anƟcipated that the TransportaƟon Assistance Program will have funding for 40 to 50 applicants. DeSoto residents in need of transportaƟon assistance are encouraged to aƩend one of these workshops to meet with program administrators to discuss eligibility requirements and receive assistance in applying for the program.

“Although this iniƟaƟve only addresses transportaƟon issues for a limited number of residents who qualify based on income, DeSoto is also working with STAR Transit to offer public transportaƟon for all DeSoto residents,” said DeSoto Mayor CurƟstene McCowan.
