AND THE MYSTIC DECREED: RIDERS ON THE STORM, REMEMBER
FORM OVER FUNCTION
Illustrated by Samantha Hahn
The Tough Tempest, and Her Seven Stages
According to many, creation began with a flood. It is here where a new genesis of sorts would usher a challenger to test its fate. But not all of us get to scrap what we have started, or have the privilege of new beginnings. Some of us have to endure the storm, to ride it out. A storm might be one of famil- iarity with its arms of wind and might of rain, but some storms may transcend the elements—stir up something wholly anew. And while identifying the storm might come easy as you stare it in its face, we must remind you of the importance of know- ing what stage of the storm you’re in. Because in its tough talons, its grip, darkness can feel all-consuming, but there will always be the quiet, calm breath of the morning after. Walk, then, not with shame, but with purpose.
