Amélie Fonlupt Rencontre avec une illustratrice
« Ce qui m'importe le plus, c'est de dire le monde tel que je le vois. »
Comment êtes-vous arrivée à l’illustration ? Et à l’écriture ? La phrase de John Lennon « La vie, c’est ce qui arrive quand on avait prévu autre chose » illustre assez bien mon chemin vers le dessin et l’écriture. Il y a sept ans, alors que je me destinais à devenir comédienne après avoir fait des études de droit (As- sas), une école de commerce (Edhec) et une brève carrière en marketing et communication, j’ai réalisé que créer me correspondait mieux qu’interpréter. Assez naturellement, je me suis mise à écrire et à dessiner, trouvant ainsi la voie créative qui me res- semble. En parallèle, je me suis formée au métier de journaliste (Master à l’ESJ), que j’exerce depuis maintenant cinq ans. How did you get into illustration? And what about writing? John Lennon’s phrase “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans” comes to mind. Seven years ago, when I was planning to become an actress after having stu- died law (Assas), attended a business school (Edhec) and a brief career in marketing and communication, I realized that I preferred creating rather than performing. I started writing and drawing, and found the creative path that best suited me. At the same time, I trained as a journalist (Mas- ter at ESJ), which I have been doing for five years now. Amélie Fonlupt a fait une entrée remarquée dans le paysage littéraire français avec la sortie de son pre- mier roman « La Passagère », aux éditions Rivages en 2022. L’histoire de trois générations de femmes, la grand-mère, la mère et la fille, issues de la diaspo- ra cap-verdienne. L’auteure est également une illustratrice accomplie qui mêle avec finesse humour léger et traits d’esprit dans ses dessins. Ce fut le coup de foudre pour Dis- trict, qui a convié l’artiste à exposer ses œuvres à l’agence District Saint-Germain. À cette occasion, nous lui avons posé quelques questions. Amélie Fonlupt made a remarkable entry into the French lite- rary landscape with the release of her first novel “La Passa- gère”, published by Rivages in 2022. The story of three gene- rations of women, a grandmother, a mother and a daughter, all of whom who fled poverty and oppression in the Republic of Cabo Verde. The author is also an accomplished illustrator whose drawings subtly combine gentle humor and witticism. We fell in love at first sight, and invited the artist to exhibit her works in the District Saint-Germain agency. A chance to ask her a few questions.
