procedures in two investigative reports—one international and one Arab— chosen through purposive sampling for their relevance to the study’s goals. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the study seeks to describe the phenomenon and analyse its components to answer the research questions. The analysis reveals that the requirements of scientific methodology are similar in both scientific research and investigative journalism. Additionally, the study shows that some investigative reports suffered from significant flaws due to a lack of proper verification of sources and the reliability of data, as was the case in the reports by American journalist Judith Miller on the alleged presence of weapons of mass destruction and nuclear materials in Iraq.
