Our first engagement Operating in a complex environment, and under intense scrutiny from both regulators and the public, Severn Trent Water faced challenges connected to Outcome Delivery Incentives (ODIs). Responding to these challenges required improving their network performance by maintaining, renewing, and enhancing essential infrastructure while delivering reliable services every day. In this first piece of work, we were engaged on a programme to insource ~400 crew members and drive operational improvement to support improved customer service and better ODI outcomes. Our innovative and adaptive approach meant we were able to deliver even better outcomes leading to ~£18m annualised savings, all during the wettest winter on record. This early emphasis on proximity, collaboration and delivery laid the groundwork for what would become a long-term strategic partnership. It also marked the start of a shift in mindset: Newton became the chosen delivery partner for our client’s most significant challenges. Due to the impact delivered, our output quality and the strong partnerships we built, we went on to complete four programmes, over two and a half years. This included projects on Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO), pollutions, capital delivery and more.
