Selection tools — common workspace 2/2 More controls
The same set of tools and commands can be accessed from both Selection toolbar and Selection menu which appears on the left end of the top bar when a selection is active
Top bar
Selection on/off toggle Turning off a selection doesn't clear it; you can turn it on again. Note that a selection mask may be invisible but still active. If this button is red, there is an active selection.

Long press to clear selection (this doubles the Clear Selection command)

If you are using a physical keyboard, press \ (backslash) key to toggle the selection on/off. For list of all keyboard shortcuts see page 444
