Selection tools — content editing functions Control what's inside the selection
Be sure to understand the difference between "selection" as the selection mask, and the selection "content" (your artwork; actual color pixels contained within the selection boundaries).
The functions described below apply to the selection content.

Clipboard Copies content of the selection to the Clipboard. See page 436
Transform Regular transformation tools. See page 323
Duplicate Creates a new layer
Copy Merged Creates a new layer containing a copy of selection content from all visible layers See page 319
Isolate Cuts the content of the selection and places it on a new layer. See page 318
Delete Erases the content of the selection on current layer.
Brush Creates a new brush using the content of current selection as its head. See page 310
containing a copy of the selection content from
current layer. See page 318
This deletes actual pixels from current layer.
The same set of functions is accessible from the Selection menu (see page 298 ) Note that if the selection is empty, all above functions automatically use "select all" (the entire canvas) selection (except for Isolate)
All the commands (except Delete) clear the selection after use.
Note that most of the editing of the content of a selection is possible after closing the selection workspace
