YWCA OPENS NEW DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER TheYWCA of Greater Cincinnati is doubling the number of domestic violence survivors it can serve by opening a new trauma-informed facility. With apartment-style units and spaces for children and pets, this shelter marks a major advancement for survivors and their families. Located at 3565 Van Antwerp Place in Cincinnati, theYWCA Domestic Violence Shelter includes 21 units, two fully ADA-accessible spaces, a 24/7 hotline center that manages almost 3,000 calls annually, an outdoor play area and more. FREE FUN WITH SKATE DOWNTOWN CINCY
The Riverfront Rink, located at 925 Riverside Drive, is the place to be this summer! Skate Downtown Cincy has partnered with Cincinnati Parks and the CIncinnati Recreation Commission to offer family-friendly, free programs all summer long. Friday evenings, 6-10 p.m., are for teens ages 13+. A DJ will be playing tunes, skating is free and there will be art-making projects, too. Saturday afternoons, 2-3 p.m., will have kids staying fit with a dance program. Every weekend, families are welcome to come skate, too.There is free admission, skate rental and there are drinks and snacks available for purchase. CHEVIOT LIBRARY RE-OPENS AFTER RENOVATION After eight months of hard work and nearly five million dollars spent on the project, the Cheviot Branch Library is now open once again.The upgrades, including an entry ramp and elevator, have made this branch more accessible for patrons; new shelves and comfortable furniture are also welcomed refreshes.The children’s area received a much- needed makeover and the adult reading area got spruced up with a new fireplace! ZOO LA PALOOZA
A new action-packed summer fun event is debuting at Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden this month.The first-ever Zoo La Palooza will take place on July 25th from 6-9 p.m. This family-focused event will feature sampling stations from Cincinnati favorites Graeter’s Ice Cream and Grippo’s, a variety of animal meet and greets, interactive keeper chats showcasing animal enrichment, after-hours Barnyard Bonanzas, train and carousel rides and live music from the band Rucca.
