Louisville Operations Manager Began As Part-Time Dock Associate ‘OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN AND GROW’ For more than 25 years, JIMMY HOSKINS JIMMY HOSKINS has seen our culture up close and personal. And that includes plenty of opportunities to experience career growth. It began when Jimmy came to Averitt in 1996 as a part-time dock associate in Louisville. After two years Jimmy went full time in Lexington, and he was promoted to outbound frontline leader in 2000. Jimmy made the move back to Louisville in 2003 to become an inbound frontline leader; he was also a dispatch leader for a few years before being promoted to his current role in 2012. “I would attribute that growth to the Averitt culture,” Jimmy explains. “I’ve had opportunities to learn and grow from all my leaders. (Lexington Service Center Director) CRAIG TAYLOR was a huge part of that, and of course (Region 2 Vice President) MIKE MONIN and (Louisville Service Center Director) BRYAN CECIL. ” Jimmy adds that our focus on people makes a difference. “The people make it easy to stay here,” he says. “You blink, and it’s been 25 years for me full-time. That’s more than half my life. That’s unbelievable to me, and I didn’t even realize it. I just blinked, and here I am.” What advice does Jimmy have for associates who want to grow in their own careers? “The No. 1 key is always let it be known,” he says. “Let somebody know that you want to move forward. Also, you definitely need to be open to change. You have to be flexible. That’s the best way to grow, adapt and learn.” ‘AVERITT DOESN’T JUST TALK THE TALK’ GEORGE HARRISON came to Averitt about five years ago as a driver for our Gordon Paper Dedicated account in Virginia Beach, Va., and he was recently promoted to frontline leader there. Throughout his time with Averitt, George has been impressed with our team’s commitment and

consistency. “One of the things I love about Averitt is that it doesn’t just talk the talk,” explains George, who came here after more than 20 years as a marine surveyor. “The things Averitt told me when I came to orientation five years ago, I can’t point to anything that didn’t turn out to be true. The pay is competitive, and the health benefits are fantastic.” Prior to joining Averitt, George had a background in transportation, having served as a driver while he was in college. George is now filling the role formerly held by WILLIAM MAYNARD, who passed away late last year following a lengthy illness. George helped serve in William’s stead while he was battling illness, and he says William’s guidance helped him understand how to take that next step. George adds that because of our culture, career opportunities are available for anyone who wants to grow. “If you’re aggressive about keeping an eye out, meeting people and talking to people, you can find opportunities,” he says.
