Cannon Charolais Ranch - 13th Annual Bull Sale [2/28/26]

Greetings, Welcome to our 13th annual bull offering. Thank you for your interest in our program. Jen, Lane, Trey and I are proud of the set of bulls we have to offer. We are grateful for the loyal, savvy customers that have supported us year in and year out. Without the foundation of repeat buyers, I simply wouldn’t be able to live out my dream, period. As you meander through the catalog you will notice a couple changes. First of all, the work we put in the last several years has finally yielded another bump in the number of bulls we are able to offer. For me, the fun part is I truly believe the quality is as good as it’s ever been on 50% more bulls. We are still laser focused on providing easy calving, gentle, efficient Charolais bulls crafted to create the most red meat yield, and quality grade we possibly can. Not only did we collect and report a dozen phenotypic traits this year we decided to also genomically test every single bull in the sale. This additional

testing yields higher EPD accuracy, along with each bull having a DNA tested for homozygous polled and PA; allowing for the most up to date, predictable information to make informed decisions with confidence. The second major change is less subtle. This will be the inaugural offering of Black Angus genetics. There’s a lot that went into that decision. If you care to read more on why Angus and why now, I tried my darndest to articulate that at the front of the Angus section following all the Charolais bulls. It goes without saying it quite a time to be in the cow-calf business. Our goal has always been to create the most predictable, profitable genetics we can. That doesn’t change as we navigate another cattle cycle. I understand there’s an unlimited number of places a person can select a bull. Jen and I want to provide you with the most professional enjoyable buying experience possible. If there is anything we can do to help along the way, please reach out to myself or Greg Hubert. .Tom

PROFITABILITY MADE SIMPLE: THE AICA TERMINAL SIRE INDEX

The AICA Terminal Sire Index (TSI) utilizes EPDs and genomic data from the American-International Charolais Association (AICA) database to assist in identifying the most profitable genetics for your operation. Using advanced economic selection index theory and bio-economic modeling, the TSI generates dollar indexes for terminal progeny sired by bulls in the AICA database. These indexes rank sires based on their profit potential, allowing you to quickly make more informed decisions. For example, if Sire A has an index of $191.66 and Sire B comes in at $280.00, you can anticipate an average net return of $88.34 more per offspring from Sire B. To consider that impact over 25 calves in 5 years, the increased profit potential would be expected to be more than $11,000. TSI assumes that all offspring are marketed based on carcass value, while replacement females are either purchased or raised separately.
