Year Four at GEMS Wellington International School has been nothing short of a thrilling adventure filled with exploration, discovery and endless creativity. Throughout the academic year, our students have taken part in a wide variety of learning, immersing themselves in a diverse range of captivating topics and experiences that have ignited their curiosity and fueled their passion for knowledge. One of the highlights of the year was the deep dive into the enchanting world of the Polar Regions. Through engaging activities our students embarked on a fascinating journey to Antarctica, where they marveled at the wonders of this icy continent and gained a profound understanding of its unique wildlife and fragile ecosystems. From playful penguins to majestic whales, they developed a deep appreciation for the importance of preserving these pristine environments for future generations.
In addition to their exploration of the Polar Regions, Year Four students delved into the captivating history and culture of the ancient Romans. Through immersive activities and hands-on projects, they uncovered the mysteries of this ancient civilization, exploring facets of daily life, architecture and art. One memorable highlight was the creation of intricate Roman mosaics, where students unleashed their creativity and appreciation for the artistic achievements of the past. As part of their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability, Year Four students undertook a thrilling challenge of hunting for ‘Nurdles’ the beach. The students loved investigating where they had come from and then making artwork out of them, with the help from students in our Upper School. Trips played a pivotal role in enriching the learning experiences of Year Four students. A visit to the
iconic Dubai Frame provided them with a panoramic view of the city’s skyline, sparking thought-provoking discussions about cultural heritage and the significance of preserving it in a rapidly evolving society. These real-world encounters have not only broadened their horizons but also deepened their understanding of global perspectives and interconnectedness. As the academic year draws to a close, we celebrate the remarkable growth and achievements of our Year Four students. Armed with a wealth of knowledge, a spirit of inquiry and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world, we are confident that they are well- prepared to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead on their educational journey.
