Message from our Head Girl
Each year, as the Yearbooks are given out, searching for your picture among its pages, writing sentimental messages, and signing leavers’ shirts always stir up bittersweet memories. Yet, this year carries a different weight. As I graduate from WIS and head off to my dream University, I’m reminded that after this summer break, I won’t be returning to the place where my dreams were given the space to flourish. At WIS, I’ve learned that education is not simply learning within the confines of a classroom, but rather a lifelong attitude that manifests itself as infinite intellectual curiosity. The diversity of thought, lived experiences and people inspire me to stretch the boundaries of my understanding of the world every day. Through the expansive exposure to different ideas within the GCSE and IB curriculum, we are equipped not only with critical thinking skills to navigate the world but also with the aptitude to problem-solve issues that supersede global boundaries, enabling us to contribute meaningfully to critical problems such as climate change, social inequality, and technological innovation. However, above all, the most priceless thing WIS has offered me is the unwavering support I have received throughout my journey here. Not only have I fostered invaluable relationships with my peers and teachers but they have also taught me the importance of exploring, questioning, and creating beyond traditional boundaries, allowing my interests to pave the way. As Head Girl, it has been my privilege to equip the student body with the platform to facilitate change within their year groups. As I observe the next generation of leaders at WIS I find immense hope in the future of our school, our community and beyond. Although my time at WIS has come to a close, I hope that the platform we have created echoes in a reverberating legacy through the corridors long after we graduate. Wiann Wilson Head Girl
