Philanthropy As part of our vision as a school, it is our role to foster the holistic growth of our students through a culture of empathy, where students are supported and valued as unique individuals, as well as empowering students to become wellbeing leaders, and make a positive difference in their communities and beyond. Through the philanthropic work that takes place at our school, we know that our vision will live on beyond the walls of WIS. Our students have had many opportunities to demonstrate philanthropic endeavour, whether this be as a whole school, as a Year Group, or as an individual. Students have raised money for a variety of charities such as Dubai Cares, collecting money and donations for the Tarahum for Gaza campaign, and for Harmony House with 13,000AED raised from our Wellington Charity Single. We have seen students organising blood donation drives within school, alongside the Year 4 Kid-preneur event ‘The WIS Souq’ where students raised money to support children in need. Students have also carried out their own examples of philanthropy over the year with students carrying out small acts of kindness, or within their communities, or around the globe. Our trip to Kenya allowed students to step into the shoes of the families they visited and were able to make a positive difference beyond their own experience. We are delighted to have so many incredible children who want to help and support others within their own communities, as well as internationally. We look forward to the many opportunities that lie ahead in supporting our children to make a difference in their world.
