of school, the Dubai Flacons. Playing in large tournaments like the BAA League Dubai, and the DOBA League Dubai representing my club, for U16,19 and men’s age group, as well as playing in international tournaments in other countries representing Dubai. where I can enhance my teamwork and collaborative skills and challenge myself to get better with my skills in the sport with my strengths and grow upon them with my commitment to the sport and my club. Aryan Kapur, 12E1 Language Development Breakfast Event (6 hours). In the beginning what we had to do was choose a language and we had to learn the language through various sources like YouTube or a course then when we had enough experience, we were paired into groups the group leader was Taavisha. We all coordinated through email and through social media, myself, Dana, Krrish and Taavisha kept looking at ways in which we can make our stall better than others we all collectively decided on a menu. When the menu was decided, we then made a group chat and collectively decided on what person would make what item. One thing I have learnt is that good communication will lead to great teamwork. Another is that communication is key when you are working in a group, because of this we had a very successful stall with no issues. Vaishnavi Dixit, 12D1 We did a Language Development breakfast for parents of the IBCP students! It was very fun, we got to bring in breakfast foods from the countries of the language we are learning. Myself and Saeed Nabulsi made a Japan food stand, with sweets and foods like Mitarashi dango, Onigiri, and Miso soup. It was a
songs and rehearse them together for the purpose of performing in front of the MUN committees. Overall, the performances ended up being a huge success and I received lots of positive feedback from my peers. Additionally, helping out the secretariat team in MUN has been enjoyable as well as I met new people in the school whom I’ve gone to befriend. Bari Shasho, 12E2 For my CAS project, I co-created a website which shares valuable MYP resources with MYP students. After being launched only a couple months ago, this website already has over 1000 users, additionally, I’ve also received numerous emails from the students praising the resources. I’m extremely happy that students are finding my website helpful and I’m able to help them in some way. Drishyaa Sharma, 12O1 One of my favourite CAS experiences so far has been volunteering to be be one of the four Psychology representatives at this academic year’s IB Options Evening. The 3 other volunteers and I collaborated to make the Psychology board attractive and presentable to attract students and parents to our area. During the event, we mainly spent the evening explaining the course outline to the best of our abilities in a way that would interest students, trying to persuade GCSE students to take the subject by getting to know them and their interests, and also providing them with general advice on how to survive GCSE. Although we were technically representing Psychology, we also gave them ideas of other possible subject choices for the careers they wish to pursue. An additional personal achievement was that a Year 11 student I discussed the IB psychology course with returned later to ask about the entry requirements! Overall, I found the evening to be enriching, interesting and enjoyable as well as I ended up spending 4 hours advocating for my favourite subject of the past 2 years as well as getting to know countless eager and curious students. develop and enhance skills such as public speaking, confidence and collaboration. This experience has been amazing. Kathleen D’Costa, 12R1 We began the day by organizing ourselves into groups and we were assigned different golfers based on the time we arrived. I was paired with Martin and Kritika and we were asked to complete all 18 holes with a Danish golfer called Thorbjørn Olesen and a French golfer named Victor Perez. We were tasked with keeping the scores for the spectators and Martin carried the score sign while Kritika and I calculated the score in relation to the PAR score. Essentially, we learned how to score for golf and also help maintain a smile and develop our patience as the golfers took around 4 and a half hours to complete the entire course. We successfully kept track of the score and stayed in line with all the rules specified for us by the teachers, we also were a pretty successful team. If I could do it again, I would ensure to keep track of where we were standing as we were a bit confused at the time, I would also get there earlier to help prepare myself a bit more, Which showcases reflection in action! Zaina Al Lahham, 12E1 Despite all my CAS experiences so far, being a part of the student council has been my favourite. This is a leadership position I was looking forward to when transitioning into year 12 and interacting with leaders across a wide range of year groups has been eye opening. The duration of this experience was 2 terms and within this time period, I was able to work alongside other councilors to establish my own club, improve sanitary products provided and even introduce an educational awareness week surrounding International Women’s Day. Kaira Pal, 12E2 My favorite CAS experience so far was to help out and perform during the MUN events at WIS. I especially enjoyed working with my band to come up with
My favorite CAS moment this academic year was when Manos and I decided to host the first ever student led basketball competition for Year 10 and 11. Firstly, we pitched a presentation to the specific teachers that we needed to get into contact with in order to receive approval. Once the plan was confirmed, we had to consider the time, location, space and number of matches in order to have easy transitions between matches. This competition ended up being a huge success and Manos and I collaborated really well together in order to provide the best of competitive basketball to Year 10 and Year 11. It allowed us to learn how to plan and manage events and taught us lots of lessons along the way that we can implement for future sports events. Zoya Zaidi, 12O2 I was given the opportunity to travel to Kenya with the school as part of a community service experience, enabling me to give back to the community in a way I never would have thought of before! I did not know what to expect out of this trip, however I demonstrated fortitude by taking a risk and stepping out of my comfort zone. I can say with full certainty that it was a life-changing experience, creating bonds and fostering connections with both my peers and the locals, and supporting the Kenyan community to the best of my abilities. Being at WIS gives one the opportunity to grow as a person and become more mindful and tolerant to the world we live in, and through CAS we are able to place ourselves in challenging situations, feel rewarded from our experiences, and be the best version of ourselves. Zeina El Khatib, 12D1 My favorite CAS moment so far is becoming Inclusion Ambassador, it has opened so many opportunities for me. One memorable opportunity I was given was helping out with movement for learning opportunities where I would help out with lower school children’s’ activities in the morning, which was so enjoyable. Presenting in assemblies to large audiences also helped me to
One of my favourite CAS experiences is being apart of Wellbeing Ambassadors and leading the videos for different mental health related events i.e., Children’s Mental Health Week. I enjoy taking part in all things mental health/psychology related whether it’s raising awareness to getting the WIS community involved in the discussion. Creating these videos allows me to do both and give a voice to those worried to reach out for help. I especially enjoy showcasing the rich and diverse cultures at WIS by having words of affirmations in different languages. With the videos I also get to engage with the younger students at school and hear their thoughts on Mental Health. Olivia Mablé, 12R2 My favorite CAS moment so far was the internship in the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, and this was a service that took 3 weeks in total. It was an enjoyable and productive service, as I got to acknowledged with the business side of art and got work experience in the art field. During the internship I have worked as a member of the Event Management team, helping with organizing the classical concerts in the museum. The most enjoyable part of work was to stay after for the concert and listen to the great performance of the musicians! Anna Kolesnik, 12E2 So far, I have very much enjoyed my CAS experience. One of the experiences I did as part of my activity strand was the Dubai Run 2023. It was a surreal experience running on Sheikh Zayed road and realised my resilience for running for long periods of time. Continuing with my activity strand, I have also taken up gym as a hobby. Originally it started off as something I would do to improve my physical wellbeing but as my progress continued, I realised that even my Mental Wellbeing improved which was a great outcome of going to the gym. Srijan Goswami, 12E2 One of my on-going CAS experiences; being a part of a basketball club outside
very fun experience! Natalia Marques, 12E1
