Performing Arts
The creativity and talent that has graced our stages and left lasting impressions on our community has been outstanding this year and I could not be more proud how our Arts community develops each year. We kicked off the academic year with
at Choirfest in Dubai and the Global Performing Arts Alliance competition in Sharjah. Our entry into Choirfest was met with resounding applause, and to came away with not one but two awards— Judge’s Choice and Best Solo Performance and let’s not forget our extraordinary junior show team, who showcased their immense talent and creativity at the Global Performing Arts Alliance competition, earning a well-deserved second place. This is not just a celebration of awards and accolades but a testament to the power of music and performance in bringing people together, inspiring others, and creating unforgettable moments. We are immensely proud of everyone involved-our singers, soloists, dancers, musicians, directors, and supporters-for their dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Here’s to many more successes and memorable performances in the future! The Wellington Singing Scholars have shone brightly this year as they took the lead on our charity single in partnership with West End Stage, showcasing not only their vocal talents but also their commitment to making a positive impact through performance. Their dedication and enthusiasm has been instrumental in creating a meaningful and impactful piece that resonates with our community and beyond. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gemma McMeel, our singing coach, whose expertise and guidance have empowered our elite performers to reach new heights. We are incredibly fortunate to have such talented individuals amongst our community here at WIS, and we look forward to continuing our journey of growth and collaboration next year. This year’s journey through the performing arts has been a testament to the dedication, creativity, and collaborative spirit of our students, parents and staff. I wish I could name each event and students involved! Each performance was a culmination of hard work, passion, and vision, we look forward to many more unforgettable moments in the coming year.
an adventurous performance from our Year 1 students, who brought the classic tale of Goldilocks to life with their youthful exuberance and budding theatrical skills. It was a heartwarming start that set the tone for the artistic journey that lay ahead. The spotlight then turned to our two main musical productions. For our younger students in Year 6 and below, “Seussical” brought the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss to life, showcasing their boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm. Meanwhile, our upper school students took on the comedic charm of “The Addams Family,” delivering a spellbinding performance that blended humor with musical prowess, leaving audiences captivated and wanting more. One of the major highlights this year was the collaboration with Urdang International, whose weekly residency infused our GCSE Drama classes with a wealth of expertise and contemporary insights to enable them to create the very best performance. This partnership not only enriched our students’ learning experiences but also expanded our EEE provision, offering a broader spectrum of opportunities for our budding performers to flourish in Dance, Acting and Singing. I am delighted have them here after school on a Wednesday moving forward offering classes to our WIS community on a weekly basis. What an incredible journey it has been for our talented choir and junior show team! We are bursting with pride and joy as we celebrate our triumphs
