WIS Yearbook 2024

Foundation Stage 1

What a remarkable start to their learning journey our youngest of students have had in school this year. Everyday has been a new and exciting challenge in FS1 and we have observed the children develop into confident, enthusiastic and independent learners. Learning has truly been brought to life, with our students excelling in a diverse range of exciting and engaging activities. The year has seen many firsts; embarking on new friendships, learning to write their own name and exploring lots of experiences through continuous provision. The students have made us beam with pride in all areas of the Early Years framework, working hard daily showing growing resilience, creativity and independence. FS1 students have made many memories through our thematic based learning. Our topics of Under the Sea, Animal Kingdom and Nursery Rhymes have all incorporated fantastic enrichment opportunities. In Term 2, our visit from the petting farm saw the students engage with small animals; petting, feeding and even parrots standing on our heads were all great experiences. We were delighted to see the students apply what they had learnt in this exciting hands on experience. One of the most memorable highlights this year has been the Animal Kingdom assembly which saw all the children perform confidently in the school theatre. It was very special to be able to welcome our FS1 parents into school so we could share this special moment together. Their hard work and dedication paid off when they sang their songs beautifully for all to hear. They made everyone smile with their wonderful singing and dancing! It has been wonderful watching the children progress with their physical development skills during Outdoor Learning and in PE lessons with their specialist teachers. All children have developed their enquiry and imagination, coordination and gross motor skills. One of our favourite times of the day is exploring the many different areas of learning in the outdoors with our friends. We love to construct in the builder’s yard and fix the bikes in the WIS Bike Wash! We are extremely proud of the strides of progress each child has made in FS1. Their relentless determination and growing love of school never cease to inspire us, leaving a smile on all of our faces. As we eagerly await the continuation of their learning journey into FS2 and beyond, we are filled with excitement and anticipation for the achievements that lie ahead.
