WIS Yearbook 2024

Assistant Headteacher: Year 1 - 4

As we reflect on the extraordinary journey of the past year, it is with great pride that we celebrate the unparalleled outcomes and experiences achieved by our students at GEMS Wellington International School. As the Assistant Head of the Lower School, I am thrilled to see our collective efforts in shaping bright futures for our students through our school values of Empathy, Integrity and Fortitude. At the heart of our success lies our unwavering commitment to providing the best outcomes and experiences for every child in Lower School. From Year 1 to Year 4, our students have embarked on a multitude of enriching school trips, from the Atlantis Aquarium to Dubai Safari Park. Each excursion has been carefully curated to deepen their understanding of the world around them, seamlessly linking with and enhancing their learning experiences. This year, our innovative wellbeing curriculum, known as GroWell, has prioritised the holistic development of our students, nurturing not only their academic growth but also their emotional and mental wellbeing. It is through this comprehensive approach to education that our commitment to excellence extends far beyond the classroom walls. Collaborative partnerships with parents have flourished and developed through our GroWell program, cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued. But our commitment to excellence extends far beyond the classroom walls. Our student-led conferences serve as a platform for our children to shine, showcasing their hard work, creativity, and achievements with pride and confidence. Additionally, our half-termly parental engagements, thoughtfully linked to the students’ topics each term, provide opportunities for meaningful interactions and shared learning experiences, strengthening the bond between home and school. It is a testament to the success of our approach that our students not only love learning here at WIS but also eagerly look forward to each school day. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to another successful year together at GEMS Wellington International School. Louise Horkan Assistant Headteacher - Year 1 - 4
