• DiscusswithDepartmentstheirschemerequirementsinordertoformulate,agreeandsignoffthebrief.Adviseon technical,pragmaticandpracticablesolutionstoenduserrequirementstoensuretheoverallprojectobjectivesare achieved.Whereappropriate,tochallengerequirements,proposesolutionsandmethodologiestoensureinnovative bestfitandcostadvantageousoutcomesareachieved.ToensuretheUniversity’sprojectrequirementsaretranslated intoacoherent,achievableandagreedbriefsothatdesignersandengineersproposesolutionsthatmeetthe University’sneeds.

•Reviewworkloadandscheduleprogrammesforeachschemeandrelatetoprogrammesofworksforother schemesin-handatanyonetime.
•Compliance–DesignschemesthatmeetthebriefalongwiththeneedsoftheUniversity/Department/legal requirementsfromPlanning/BuildingRegulationsetc.includingpreparingpre-tenderestimatesandcomplete schemebudgets.Understandandinterprettheimplicationsofplanning,buildingandlistedbuildinglegislationto ensuretheprojectcomplieswiththislegislationtoensuretheUniversityarenotinbreachofthesestatutory obligations. •ContractDocumentation–Producedrawings/specifications.Workwiththein-houseQuantitySurveyortoprepare alltenderdocuments,reviewtendersreceived,andprepareallcontractdocuments;andonsimplerprojects, undertakethesedutieswithouttheassistanceofthein-houseQuantitySurveyor. •Control–ProjectManageeachinhousedesigncontractthroughallstages,manageexternalconsultancyteams whomaybedrawntogetherfromtheConsultancyFrameworkAgreement,feequotation,tenderorEUprocessto producerelevantdocumentationtorunaschemethroughallRIBAstages.Undertakecontinuedanalysisofproject risks,identifyandimplementmethodologiesandprocedurestomanageandminimisethoserisksidentified.

•BudgetaryControl–Preparecompleteprojectbudgetsandmaintainclosecontrolofschemeexpenditureto ensureeachschemecompleteswithintheapprovedbudget.
•Management–ManagetheintegrationofUniversityinternalservicesintoaprojecttoensurethatboththeinternal servicessupplierandtheprojectareoperationalwhenrequired.
