than the Lord Jesus Christ. There are so many interesting facets which describe our Saviour. In Matthew 21: 42 He tells those about Him that they have despised and rejected Him. The Lord says, “Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the comer: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” Herein was the prophecy of Isaiah fulfilled, for He was despised and rejected of men. When something is rejected it in dicates that it may have a flaw. For instance, women go shopping and find a $25 dress marked down to nine or ten dollars. On the sales slip, how ever, there are the words “as is.” Perhaps the. factory inspectors found some threads pulled, or some other difficulty. This is why it is put on sale. I used to work in a nut and bolt factory. I ran the furnace while my brother ran the machine. We had re jects every once in a while. Some of the metal was malformed, and it had to be set aside. So, the world looked at the Saviour and said, “He isn’t fit to have us follow Him. He’s just an imposter.” Scripture r e c o r d s their Words when they said, “We will not have this man to reign over us.” The Lord Jesus is rejected by people since they feel He might interfere with their liberties and not give them what they wanted. Isn’t it strange that the only One who can satisfy was cast aside? He said, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” These people, like many today, were not interested. Instead of Christ they chose Barabbas. Every false religion robs the Lord Jesus Christ of something. They offer man their own devised fables and many are carried away by “every

When Theodore Roosevelt was run ning for office, he carried a Bible everywhere he went. Each morning he had a Bible class in his private car or at the White House. One of my dear friends was his companion. He told me about the blessed times they had together in studying the Scrip tures. But when the voting came for the next election, the people chose a man who didn’t believe there was a Saviour. He had no time for the Bible. In I Peter 2:7 we read about “the stone which the builders disallowed.” That is a strange expression. He was rejected, refused, and finally disal lowed. It was like so many today who get up in the morning and make no allowance for Him during the day. How can we expect Him to make any provision for us if we make no allow ance for Him? Why should people ex pect to live eternally where Christ is when they haven’t been interested in letting Him live with them here and now? What a strange paradox to see peo ple who would rather suffer forever than to come to the Saviour for for giveness. Wherever I go, I find those who love the Saviour, who honor Him, walk with Him, and feast on His Word. I was recently in Europe where, in various countries, I found those who loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him. In heaven there will be people from every kindred, race, tongue, and nation. All of them will be folks who have allowed a place for Him. Another i n t e r e s t i n g portion of Scripture is Isaiah 53:3 where we learn that our lovely Saviour was both despised and rejected. Have you ever been despised openly? I can’t remem ber that I ever have. I have been among enemies who didn’t want me. Things which are despised, however. 18
