ing stars as they flash through the sky like glow worms. I went to the exhibit of one of the dictionary com panies when the world’s fair was held in San Francisco some years ago. I said to the man in charge, “How many words are in your new sthridard dic tionary?” He replied “More than 800,000.” “Oh,” I said, “that’s too bad.” I looked worried and distressed about it, so he said, “Well, what’s the matter, mister, isn’t that enough?” I said, “Why no, not nearly enough. You see, in Psalm 147 we read that God made the stars and called them all by their names. Now where do. you get enough names to call those mil lions of stars when you only have 800,000 words in the dictionary?” He smiled, and responded, “I see what you’re talking about.” We don’t know God’s names do we? Man has given names to relatively few of them when we think of the myriad of constella tions in the heavens. Isn’t it strange that there is no edge to the sky ? My father-in-law was a great lover of astronomy. He said that if God would let him take a trip to one of the stars and see what is going on over there he would be happy. What an interesting wish. But what good would such a knowledge bring? How much more vital is it to know as much as we can about the One Who created them. If you knew all there is to know about the stars, would that help you on your death bed? Of course not. Only a personal knowledge of Christ will avail. The Bible tells us that He “also hath once suffered for sin, the just for the un just, that he might bring us to God.” He knew that after He made all those stars, planets, suns, moons, meteors, and comets it wouldn’t help you to prepare to meet Him in eternity. So after making all these things, He suf fered for our sins. As the only Saviour He does that which meets our personal needs. All around us there are temptations in every area of life. How we need His help and support. God is up there among those stars somewhere. We don’t know right now, but we have the

Before Christ left this earth, He told His disciples, “I ascend to my Father and your Fa ther.” Someday He is coming again to take us to be with Him forevermore (I Thess. 4:13-18). While there are many things in life we don’t know much about, some things we don’t know anything, yet by faith we know He made the stars and that He wants to make you what He desires for you to be. Let him have your life, body, soul, and spirit. Trust your life and soul to Him. He will make you what you ought to be as you place your confidence in the One about Whom Moses wrote in Genesis 1:16, “He made the stars also.” * ' * * The more a man is addicted to vice, the less he cares for advice. * * * Some people will do odd things in order to get even. * * * Men, like rivers, get crooked by follow ing the line of least resistance. * * * While a church may have willing people, some are willing to work, while the others are merely willing to let them. * * * Firmness is that admirable quality in our selves which we call stubbornness in others. * * * You don't need references in order to borrow trouble. 22
