Religious Studies This qualification develops critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and cultural awareness by exploring major world religions, moral dilemmas, and diverse perspectives. Students reflect on belief systems, values, and human experiences – skills valuable for careers in law, education, social sciences, and community leadership.
This qualification builds scientific understanding of the human body, practical performance skills, and analytical thinking. Students learn how anatomy, fitness, social factors, and psychology underpin physical activity, while practising and evaluating performance across different sports. OCR GCSE Physical Education develops essential health, technical, and strategic skills – preparing students for further study in sports science, coaching, physical therapy, and related fields. Main Areas of Content The course is organised into two core components: 1. Component 1: The Study of Religions – Beliefs, Teachings, and Practices • Explores two religions, chosen from options like Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, or Sikhism • Students examine beliefs, rituals, ethics, and religious practices in depth 2. Component 2: Thematic Studies • Route A (Thematic Only): Study four themes from topics such as: Relationships and families Religion and life The existence of God and revelation Religion, peace and conflict Religion, crime and punishment Religion, human rights, and social justice 3. Route B (Textual and Thematic): Study two of the above themes plus two textual study themes, such as: • St Mark’s Gospel – the life of Jesus • St Mark’s Gospel as a source of religious, moral, and spiritual truths

Socio-cultural Issues and Sports Psychology • Explores socio-cultural influences on participation, psychological factors, and health, fitness, and well-being 3. Practical Performance and Evaluation (NEA) • P erformance: Students are assessed in three different sports: one individual, one team sport and a third of their choice (individual or team) • Analysis & Evaluation: Learners analyse
their own or a peer’s performance, evaluating strengths and weaknesses and creating a personal action plan
