Textiles

This qualification allows students to explore creative and practical skills through textile-based art and design. Students develop ideas, experiment with materials and techniques, and produce a personal portfolio of work. AQA GCSE Textiles provides a strong foundation for A-Level Art & Design or Fashion/Textiles-related courses and develops problem-solving and design-thinking skills applicable to many fields. Main Areas of Content The course focuses on three key areas: 1. Design and Contextual Understanding • Researching artists, designers, and cultural influences • Analysing sources for inspiration and ideas • Exploring social, historical, and contemporary contexts • Understanding functional and decorative purposes in textiles 2. This qualification develops communication skills and cultural understanding by enabling students to express themselves confidently in Spanish, both in speech and writing. It strengthens listening, reading, and writing skills while introducing learners to authentic materials and cultural contexts from Spanish-speaking countries. Edexcel GCSE Spanish provides a strong foundation for A-level Spanish and other language study, as well as transferable skills useful in travel, business, and international careers.
