ENGL111 service learning a.k.a. Teach2Grow and the LRC library are partnering for veggie and herb pick up through early October. If the ENGL111 Teach2Grow classes have extra veggies and herbs, we will drop them off at the LRC. A table is set up inside the Ivy Tech LRC Library across from the circulation desk, where anyone is welcome to fill their bags with fresh produce from Ivy Tech Indianapolis’s campus community garden. Pickup is available and encouraged during the LRC’s open building hours. For more information, you can contact Renee Rule at srrule@ivytech.edu.

A Note from the Editor:
Hello again! I’d like to start out by saying we received many title submissions for our newsletter and, after careful review, decided to go with “SASE Spotlight.” We felt this title was appropriate, as we strive to put a spotlight on all the amazing things happening in our program and show off all of our skilled and talented faculty. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful ideas and contributions, everyone! Moving on, nobody submitted any cool facts. So, here’s a cool fact that I love to tell people: Did you know hangeul , the written alphabet for Korean, is the only alphabet where we know exactly who created it? Indeed, the alphabet was created by King Sejong the Great in 1443CE. Prior to hangeul , Korean was written with Chinese characters (called hanja ) and only scholars could read and write it. Hangeul was made to be easily read and understood by everyone, regardless of class or education level—as a result, it often takes less than a day to learn it all! As always, thank you so much for reading this edition of the newsletter and for supporting the School of Arts, Sciences & Education here at Ivy Tech Indianapolis. Please look forward to the next edition!
