On Tuesday, April 18th, Dr. Gayle Cosby and her EDUC 240 students (Health and PE for Elementary Teachers) traveled to IPS Montessori School #87 on a field trip. They heard from the Principal and the Community Liaison, and took a tour of the school. The students were able to gain a deeper understanding of the Montessori pedagogy through hearing from teachers and seeing classrooms in action. Together, the students also cleared the garden beds for the school and beautified the flower beds and memorial garden in the front of the school. Dr. Cosby stated that the students have been growing seedlings of various vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.) that will be planted into the garden beds. Those vegetables will be available to students and their families. Overall, it was a great day of service and the beginning of a great partnership with #87!
