The annual meeting of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, November 30, 2024 made for an exciting Iron Bowl, as over 100,000 fans packed Bryant Denny Stadium to watch the Crimson Tide defeat the visiting Tigers 28-14. Despite four Alabama fumbles and three interceptions, Auburn was not able to take advantage of the Tide’s mistakes. The Crimson Tide scored first and went on cruise control in the first half to go up 14-6 at intermission. Alabama added 14 points in the third quarter to close its scoring and secure the Iron Bowl victory. Quarterback Jalen Milroe passed for 256 yards. He also rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns. Teammate Jamarion Miller rushed for 84 yards, while Justice Haynes had 20 rushing yards and a Crimson Tide touchdown. Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams led Alabama Wide Receivers, with 111 yards and 56 yards respectively. Payton Thorne led Auburn’s offense with 301 yards passing and one touchdown. He also rushed for 48 yards against the Crimson Tide. Auburn teammate Jarquez Hunter rushed for 56 yards. KeAndre Lambert-Smith had 116 receiving yards, while Cam Coleman had 78 receiving yards, and a touchdown catch. Rivaldo Fairweather had 55 yards receiving. The Tigers’ Ian Vachon completed two of three field goals to help make the 14 points on the board. The Crimson Tide finished the regular season with a 9-3 overall record. Auburn’s football season is officially over as they finished the year with a 5-7 overall record. Alabama missed out on the 2024 College Football playoffs as SMU earned the final spot over the Crimson Tide. Although disappointed, the decision may have worked out in favor of the Crimson Tide, as Alabama is headed to sunny, and warm, Tampa, FL to face Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Years Eve at 11 a.m. CT.
