We’ve all had to adjust our schedules and normal lifestyles as a result of the havoc wreaked by the pandemic. Life as we know it has changed and our bodies are taking a toll. Sitting at home constantly can cause way more damage than you might realize. If you’re experiencing neck, back, or hip pain suddenly during quarantine, the underlying cause may be due to poor posture or another condition altogether. Contact FYZICAL today to learn more about how physical therapy can help relieve your pain to stay active and in good shape right now. Got Back & Neck Pain? For many of our patients, this marks the first time in their life they’re experiencing back or neck pain, and it’s all because
they’ve had to sit at home so much during quarantine. There are many methods used in physical therapy to relieve back pain, such as hot/cold packs, massage therapy, and more. These techniques improve blood flow and restore circulation to the affected area, thereby reducing swelling and inflammation. Having poor posture can result in back and neck pain. One way to reduce this is to make sure your at-home work environment is ergonomically designed. You should have a chair with good lumbar support, and your monitor should be at eye level to reduce strain and craning your neck forward. What About Hip Pain? Hip pain can be caused by a variety of medical conditions as well Continued inside

as from certain injuries. Inflamed tendons from over-exertion or an athletic injury can cause temporary or chronic hip pain. Tendinitis, dislocation, sprains, and pinched nerves can all contribute to or be the cause of hip pain. Hip pain may also result from repetitive injuries or poor posture. What to Expect During Your Physical Therapy Appointment Upon your first visit to FYZICAL, your physical therapist will ask you many health-related questions about your medical history and pain. If hip, neck, or back pain is due to having poor posture, your physical therapist is also likely to recommend adjustments to improve it. Making sure you have an ergonomic workspace, including your chair, desk, and computer screen height can do wonders for improving your posture! During your examination, your physical therapist might assess your flexibility, strength, balance, posture, coordination, blood pressure, and heart rate. They might use their hands to touch and evaluate your back and surrounding areas to check for tightness. This way, he or she can create a customized treatment plan for your specific needs that includes targeted stretches and exercises to ease your pain. The field of application is very wide in the treatment of
vestibular disorders: • Visual Dependence • PPPD (Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness) • Vestibular asymmetry (Neuritis – DVU)) • Vestibular Neurotomy (Chemical or Surgical) • Post-BPPV Rehabilitation • Meniere’s Syndrome • Multifactorial instability • Highway Syndrome • “Vestibular Omission” • Bilateral Vestibular Deficiency...

Heidi and the staff have been so great to work with. I have been dealing with nerve- related pain in my neck, shoulder and arm for many years, and after a few weeks at Fyzical, all of my symptoms have improved and I am even having entirely pain-free days. Heidi knows her stuff and I genuinely enjoy working through my exercises she assigns because I can tell they are helping. I would recommend this facility and this staff to anyone.” - Matt M.
