T

he recent expansion of ECS’ Faci l ities services group capa-

industry in the near-term fu- ture. Local building officials have struggled to respond to the surge in demand for both construction permits and on-site inspections, but with the help of authorized third-party examiners and inspectors, clients are able to stay on task without the delays that this situation would otherwise present. Our in-house ICC certified plan reviewers examine drawings and recommend approval for a permit. Our in-house ICC certified inspectors can verify code-compliant con- struction related to those

same mechanical, electrical, plumbing, framing and ac- cessibility permits. Together, this knowledgeable team of third-party code consultants brings together the expertise and timeliness to continue moving your project forward. ECS looks forward to help- ing you meet your challenges and exceed your expectations. Please contact us today at ECSFacilities@ecslimited. com for help with your latest project needs. tion Program steps in dur- ing a local COVID-related crunch. When an inspector in a local jurisdiction tested posi- tive for COVID-19, the entire department sent all of their inspectors into quarantine. Several clients reached out to ECS to provide inspections during this time to avoid delays in construction. Our teams mobilized as requested and, with the consent of the local jurisdiction, helped our clients to stay on schedule. The newly expanded list of jurisdictions in which ECS is permitted to pro-

vide Third Party Plan Review (TPPR) and Third Party Inspection Program (TPIP) services allows our clients to stay on schedule and keep pace given the surge in demand versus supply of local Building Officials during the CO - VID-19 pandemic. It is anticipated that the combined effect of grow- ing demand along with a decrease in tax revenues from the long-term effects of the pandemic on the com- mercial real estate market will result in above average growth in this portion of the

teams supporting Building Enclosure Consulting, Geo- structural Design and Third Party Code Compliance now provide extended service throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Some great examples of the application of these services include: • Building Enclosure Consulting for the renova- tion of a world-renowned museum organization’s largest facility in Wash- ington, DC ECS’ Building Enclosure team provided document re- view and consulting services to the owner and the design team as part of the overall Commissioning of the project. ECS’ architects and building science professionals, as well as qualified technicians are currently providing on-site Quality Assurance Observa- tions to help ensure that the Owner’s Project Require- ments (OPR) will be met. • Geostructural Design for a nationally known In- ternet Service Provider’s expansion of their net- work capacity. At multiple sites through- out the Mid-Atlantic region, ECS’s Geostructural team performed analyses of exist- ing slabs for the application of new loads and provided design services for those sites where the existing slab was found to be inadequate. The existing conditions of the slabs on grade were docu- mented using a combina- tion of techniques including visual assessments, Ground Penetrating Radar, and ma- terial sampling. Sub-surface characteristics were deter- mined through soil sampling and testing as well as search- ing for below-grade voids. Together, this data presented the snapshot needed to pro- vide necessary design ser- vices for the expansion. • Third Party Inspec -
