Safety training
Amendment BST WaH and WaH/MH V19 October 2025
Explain and demonstrate that reinforced ladder rungs may not be automatically considered to have sufficient strength for attaching fall protection or rescue equipment
Explain that a reinforced ladder rung of sufficient strength may be used as an anchor point when identified by:
a. information provided in the turbine’s safety manual
b. markings on the structure indicating where fall protection or rescue equipment can be attached (see Annex 1)
Demonstrate how to correctly attach fall arrest lanyards and work positioning lanyards:
a. to the ladder stiles and, where clearly identified as suitable, to reinforced ladder rungs. In all other cases, the hooks should be connected around the stiles
b.
to certified and structural anchor points
Facilitate practical exercises for the participants covering the scenarios presented in this element
Provide constructive feedback on the participants’ performance during the practice
Note Alongside manufacturers requirements, internal organisational and site-specific safety guidelines on attaching fall arrest lanyards should always be followed
While adhering to legal regulations and standards, the training provider must continuously ensure that the training material is updated and aligned with industry guidelines from G+, specifically Working at Height in the Offshore Wind Industry
