Hello Club Members, While attending Mr. Butcher’s Celebration of Life earlier this year, I was deeply moved to see so many beloved Precious Moments fans gathered to honor the life and legacy of our founder. I’m honored to share that this issue will provide a glimpse into his story, the foundation of the Precious Moments Family of Companies, and the figurine he created, set to be released on what would have been his 86th birthday. You may have noticed a variety of new products in our lineup, including
partnerships with nostalgic classic brands that we know and love. While I am excited to see the potential of these collaborations, you can rest assured that we will continue to introduce new products across all your favorite categories. As we welcome 2025, I hope you remain enthusiastic about seeing and supporting our mission of loving, caring, and sharing. Thank you for Sharing the Gift of Love! In Loving Memory of Samuel J. Butcher
1939-2024 T o many, the Precious Moments collection is comprised of beautiful and inspiring gifts and collectibles created to honor life’s most memorable moments; their expressions, sentiments, and artistry provide both comfort and joy. To the lucky, Precious Moments is so much more. These heart-touching, teardrop- eyed children are also part of the inspiring legacy of artist Samuel J. Butcher. Mr. Butcher was born of humble beginnings, but with an unwavering faith, he went to school, met his dear wife, Katie, and took whatever jobs he could to support his growing family. Working his way from the shipping department to the art department at the Child Evangelism Fellowship, he was able to hone his skills as an illustrator teaching bible stories on a national television program. The first Precious Moments prototype, Love One Another , debuted in 1978. Nearly half a century later, his creations have grown into a worldwide phenomenon adored by millions. In the early 1980s, Mr. Butcher felt a calling to create a chapel as a tribute to the Lord, a place where visitors could feel God’s spirit in whatever capacity they needed it. In 1989 his vision was unveiled to the world as the doors to the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, MO were opened. Over the years he continued to add his artistry to the Chapel, personally painting new murals and designing the hand- carved entry doors, wrought iron gates, and
stained glass windows. He was a firm believer that God’s work was never done. Through it all, Mr. Butcher was devoted to his wife and seven children. And yet, all these accomplishments paled in comparison to his devotion to the Lord, up until his final breath. During the early morning hours of May 20, 2024, Mr. Butcher said goodbye to this earthly world. While his physical form is no longer with us, his memory and the gifts he left remain.
Inspired by his legacy and humbled by the magnitude of his gifts to the world, Mr. Butcher’s children –Don, Jon, and Deb, alongside Master Sculptor Hiko Maeda – continue to carry on the Precious Moments tradition. Mr. Butcher was an artist, a missionary, a father, a grandfather, and a friend, but most of all, he was a humble servant of God. For the many hats he wore, he will be dearly missed but certainly never forgotten.

A Lasting Figural Tribute In 1981, Mr. Butcher created a figurine as a testament to the ministry which has been an integral part of his life. It was his wish that the figurine not be released until after his passing. Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus shows a captain of a washtub ship looking through a telescope turned towards the heavens. This figurine is Mr. Butcher’s legacy and final message to all those who continue to love and cherish Precious Moments.

M eet Dee! A proud member of the Precious Moments Collectors’ Club since almost the very beginning, Dee Rodemeyer received her first Precious Moments figurine in 1978, “Love One Another.” She held on to just that one piece for four years. In 1982, when she met her husband Bob (whom she lovingly refers to
as “Mr. Right”), he began to give her more figurines. Every time he would go to Missouri, he would come back with a gift for her.

Today she has more figurines than she can count, with many of them displayed in a large cabinet in her bedroom. Bob also made a shelf that runs around the perimeter of the room to display more of her collection. HER FAVORITE FIGURINES ARE THAT VERY FIRST ONE AND AN EXCLUSIVE 9” PIECE THAT WAS ONLY GIVEN OUT BY RAFFLE ON A HAWAIIAN CRUISE. Only 100 were made and she won it in a secondary market auction.

Dee also enjoys collecting Precious Moments dolls. She makes a point to attend Linda Rick’s Doll class each year and even had a doll created in her honor. Of course, the doll’s name is Dee Dee!

WHILE DEE TRULY LOVES HER COLLECTION, PRECIOUS MOMENTS IS SO MUCH MORE THAN FIGURINES, DOLLS, AND OTHER GIFTS. IT IS ABOUT THE FRIENDSHIPS SHE HAS MADE AND THE EXPERIENCES SHE’S HAD BECAUSE OF BEING A FAN. She absolutely loves visiting the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, MO, with 20-25 visits under her belt. She enjoys attending the Reunion and Christmas events, even making sparkly “blinged out” nametags for her and her friends.

She is also co-President of her Local Club Chapter, The Little Astronaut Girl, the Club That’s Out of this World. Through the National Club, Local Club, and her involvement with the Facebook group Precious Inspirations, she has made lifelong friendships. She thanks Precious Moments creator, Samuel J. Butcher, for all of it. “If it wasn’t for Mr. Butcher, I wouldn’t know all these special people and wouldn’t have had all these experiences. If there was no him, there would be no us,” Dee says. Thank you, Dee, for being such a wonderful part of our Precious Moments family! ■

Technically, I’ve been here for eight years, and nine months in corporate, however, I started in the Precious Moments Gift Shoppe in Carthage, Missouri before moving to customer service. WHAT DO YOU DO AT PRECIOUS MOMENTS? I answer customers’ phone calls, emails, and handle returns and replacements. WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING AT PRECIOUS MOMENTS? I love the company & the core values that it has of making the world a kinder place by helping people share love. WHAT’S A DAY IN YOUR LIFE WORKING AT PRECIOUS MOMENTS? My day consists of assisting our Direct consumers as well as Retail stores, as well as quality control and some other operational elements for the entire company. IT’S YOUR DAY OFF, WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR FUN? On my days off, you can find me playing in my flower beds.
WHAT’S THE FIRST CONCERT YOU EVER ATTENDED? My very first concert was a dual one featuring Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, and a few other country music stars. IF YOU HAD TO EAT ONE MEAL EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE? It would have to be spaghetti. ARE ANY OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS PRECIOUS MOMENTS COLLECTORS? When I started working in the Gift Shoppe many moons ago, I got to bring home broken pieces, which we could fix at home and my daughter Monika just fell in love with all of them! Her favorites are all of the Disney Princess figurines we have. IF YOU COULD LIVE ANYWHERE, WHERE WOULD IT BE? I would enjoy living in Montana or Wyoming, a place where you can see all the stars that the good Lord created without the streetlights. WHAT WOULD YOU SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT? My go-to karaoke song is Wilson Phillips’ “Hold On”. I do a mean air drum solo. ■

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED FOR PRECIOUS MOMENTS? I have been working for Precious Moments now for three years. WHAT DO YOU DO AT PRECIOUS MOMENTS? I’m the Customer Service Assistant Manager. I answer customers’ phone calls, emails, and phone calls. I also work with our wholesale customers: taking their orders, returns, or replacements. WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING AT PRECIOUS MOMENTS? I love the fabulous customers that we have and truly enjoy seeing them at the Family Reunion event every year. WHAT’S A DAY IN YOUR LIFE WORKING AT PRECIOUS MOMENTS? My days consist of working with our Direct consumers and our retailers. We answer phone calls: place orders and process mail-in orders, returns, and refunds as needed. Each day is unique in Customer Service.

IF YOU COULD LIVE ANYWHERE, WHERE WOULD IT BE? I would enjoy being anywhere out in the country to see the stars and the wonderful creatures. WHAT WOULD YOU SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT? I love singing and will sing a variety of songs. Music just makes the mood better! ■
