PAYROLL PETS
Modern life is incredibly busy. Combining work and home life can be a balancing act, and recently, we’ve all been exposed to considerable uncertainty. Pets can really help our mental well-being and help us find some solace and stability in difficult times. We asked you, the payroll professionals, to show us your pets.
Here are just a few of your wonderful furry and feathered friends...
Name: Bailey Sent by: Amanda Jones
MCIPPdip, payroll specialist, Civil Nuclear Constabulary “Here is my dog, Bailey, who wanted a picture on my graduation.”
Name: Alfie and Charlie Sent by: Karen Meehan MCIPPdip, payroll team leader, Imperial Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, London “Finley, the white Miniature Schnauzer and Alfie, the West Highland White Terrier, have their own Instagram page (with Charlie, my daughter’s rescued Westie), which has over ten thousand followers. I say I’m their personal assistant and it’s my second job! “After previously working in a hospital, I moved to a position working remotely. I love being at home with them and they often say hi to the team.”
Name: Scout and Deacon Sent by: Gemma Moules MCIPP, payroll and pensions manager, The CME Personnel Consultancy Ltd “Scout was the bestest boy. He was the poster boy for many of my work socials or National Payroll Week with the CIPP. During the pandemic, he was a huge help. He would snuggle on his bed in my home office and keep me company, providing those much- needed cuddles when things got a little too tough for me. “Sadly, I lost Scout during the pandemic. My world changed. I didn’t have a pet at home – it was quiet, lonely and I felt lost. I missed those walks to clear my head and those play times to distract my mind. My life situation had changed, and I couldn’t envisage having another dog for now, so along came Deacon, my budgie. He was a cheeky bird from the get-go, and so clever. He’s grown into a delightful bird with a big character. He spends a lot of his time sat on my shoulder or on the desk having a little wander around. “I feel having a pet around in life is a must, especially if you live alone. Pets are part of the family and they become the best friends you could ever ask for.”
Name: Ebonii Sent by: Karen Orchard ACIPP, payroll manager, Thomas’s London Day School “This is my dog, Ebonii, who is a Cockatoo, and five-and-a-half years old. She used to be an office dog and loved coming in to see everyone. Since we moved offices, she has unfortunately not been able to come in as much but she still likes to visit and see everyone from time to time. Ebonii loves the water, which you can see from this picture.”
If you’ve submitted your payroll pet to us and they’re not included, you’ll see them in a future issue of Professional .
