WNHGO: Women’s Nine Hole Golf Organization
On August 5, the Maryland-Virginia Team Match Association (MVTMA) concluded its 2025 season with an A-Team match at Congressional. The season comprised 3 Nine-Hole A-Team matches and 3 nine-Hole B-Team matches played among 13 country clubs from Maryland and Virginia. ANCC’s WNHGO teams took first place in the annual tournament for the first time since 2016. The final results were:
1 st Place: Army-Navy total of 60 pts 2 nd Place: Westwood total of 59 pts
3 rd Place tie: International & Montgomery total 58.5 pts each Congratulations to our team captains, Ketty Farrell and Debbie Williams and all the WNHGO players who partici- pated this year.

For the second year in a row, Marie Anderson took home the title at the 2-day WGO-18 Stroke Play Championship , finishing with a gross score of 174—congratulations, Marie! After an extremely hot summer, with early morning slots Tuesdays and Fridays in high demand, members are now welcoming the cooler weather and a full calendar of fall golf! September is packed with exciting events, kicking off with the 3-day Irish Open , a two-lady four-ball match play tournament. Other highlights include the MJ Smith Classic , a four-ball stroke play event honoring longtime ANCC LPGA pro MJ Smith, who retired in 2016 after 25 years of service. Rounding out the month is the Pink Lady Pink Ribbon Classic/Act With Love Fundraiser , supporting breast cancer research through the Dr. Susan Love Foundation. Our annual WNHGO Championship Tournament will take place on Friday, September 5 in Arlington and Tuesday, 9 September in Fairfax. We will have two flights: a 9-hole stroke play Championship Flight and a 9-hole Stableford Flight. The golf pro staff will determine flight placement based on handicap, assign pairings, and set tee times. Day 2 is an 8:30 shotgun start followed by a luncheon.
