01 Selecting a suitable cable carrier

1.1 Required basic data for determination

The cable carrier is selected based on different factors which have to be considered in combination. It is best to start the cable carrier selection process with as much of the following parameter information available as possible.: ■ ■ Installation of cables and hoses

■ ■ Installation situation (How much space is available? Installation width? Installation height?) ■ ■ Operating temperature ■ ■ Contamination and degree of contamination (Which type of contamination? Which amount?) ■ ■ Application-specific ambient influences (e.g. chips, oil, moisture, chemicals)

(Number and diameters of the installed cables and hoses as well as the cable weight including media (kg/m), required minimum bending radius) ■ ■ Dynamic parameters (Travel speed, acceleration/deceleration, desired motion cycles) ■ ■ Motion sequence (For which type of motion is the cable carrier used?)

1.2 Selecting a suitable version

TSUBAKI Kabelschlepp offers a variety of cable carriers for all types of applications. The suitable product can be roughly determined with the available basic data.

Selecting the suitable material: side bands made of steel or plastic? In addition to the environmental conditions, the selection of the suitable material is determined by the dynamic parameters and the load on the cable carrier. Plastic cable carriers have become established in many areas of appli- cation over the years. The application should always be examined in detail beforehand, though. The following table shows the operating parameters as a configuration tool for the suitable cable carrier material:
