Therapist and Advocate for Hope

Emeka Nnaka is uniquely qualified to present life, its challenges and its opportunities from the perspective of someone who found strength through tremendous adversity. He has addressed audiences across the Midwest, including schools, professional groups and corporate events. Emeka has been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered,” where he discussed the Americans with Disabilities Act on its 25th anniversary for a national audience. His story has also been featured in other national publications such as The Mighty, The Washington Post, TED talks, and the Onion, an op-ed of Time magazine. As a speaker, coach and advocate, Emeka inspires others to find hope, take action in their lives and live beyond the labels of their circumstances. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation services from Langston University and his master’s in human relations and clinical mental health counseling from the University of Oklahoma.

Jessica Martinez-Brooks is the senior director of strategic communications and transformation at Metro Technology Centers. A first-generation college student, Martinez- Brooks has an associate degree in journalism from Oklahoma City Community College and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma. Martinez-Brooks later earned her master’s in administrative leadership from OU. Martinez-Brooks currently serves on the MAPS 4 Citizens Advisory Board for the City of Oklahoma City. Cole Watts, LCSW, LCDC Stages of Recovery Co-owner and Chief Operating Officer

Cole Watts founded founded The Door Sober Living Community with Stephen Medley. As program director, Cole conceived and implemented The Door concept and has written multiple grants for this program as well as others. He is talented at blending the nature of business practices into the field of social services. Cole was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas and has been in recovery for over 10 years, proving that you can get clean in the same town you live in. He is a proud graduate of the Lubbock County Drug Court program and advocates that drug courts work. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Texas Tech University. His focus in the company is to make sure that the activities stay true to the spirit of recovery and the mission and vision of the company.
