In the bonnie land of Scotland, under the shade of the giant thistle, lived a cheeky wee laddie named Hamish McTavish. Hamish was known all over the glen for his bright red kilt and a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
4
One breezy morning, Hamish woke up with a particularly naughty idea. He decided he would play a prank on Mr. Ferguson, the
grumpy old man who lived by the
loch. "A wee bit of fun will cheer him up!" thought Hamish with a giggle.
5
He tiptoed to Mr. Ferguson's house, carrying a bag of marshy, muddy peat. Quiet as a mouse, Hamish piled the squishy peat right in front of Mr. Ferguson’s doorstep. He hid behind a bush, waiting for the show.
6
When Mr. Ferguson opened the door to fetch his morning paper, SPLAT! His foot sank into the peat. "Och! Who’s the wee scamp that did this?" he bellowed, shaking a fist, as Hamish snickered from his hiding spot.
7
Next, Hamish scurried to the
village bakery. Mrs. MacDougal was just about to open her shop. Hamish thought, "Time for a wee bit more mischief!" He swapped the sugar for salt in her dough mixture.
8
As the village gathered for their morning treats, bites turned to grimaces. "This scone tastes like the sea itself!" cried Old Tam. Mrs. MacDougal tasted one and gasped, "Hamish McTavish!" Everyone chuckled,
knowing only he could be behind such a prank.
9
After a day full of pranks, Hamish felt a wee pang of guilt. He decided to make amends. With a basket of the sweetest berries he picked from the woods, he visited everyone he’d tricked.
10
"I’m sorry for my pranks today. Here's a wee peace offering for ye all," Hamish said, his cheeks as red as his kilt. The villagers laughed and forgave him, ruffling his hair. "You’re a wee rascal, Hamish, but we cannae stay mad at ye!"

As the sun set over the Scottish hills, Hamish felt happy. His heart was as full as his belly at a feast. "Tomorrow, maybe just a wee bit less mischief," he thought with a wink.
