Forum which has been established? T im S transke : This has been ex tremely helpful. For instance, the session about the Christian and war was really tremendous. We’re not trying to come up with far-reaching conclusions nor are we issuing stern pronouncements. They are designed to stimulate thinking; and they en able us to know our faculty better as varying points of view are ex pressed. D r . C hase : Tim, in addition to activities here at Biola, how have our students become involved in the needs of the community? T im S transke : As an arm of our Student Council is a program de signed to help community relations. We’re trying to show people that as Christians we do care about others as individuals. Several people are helping in a project for a children’s society. This gave the people of La Mirada the opportunity to see us as not only Christians but also as those who seek to relate their beliefs to the needs of everyday life. No doubt our friends are aware of the continuing ministry our students have carried on over the past several years in the Watts and Mead areas of Southern California. This is really an evangelistic outreach. Additional ly, right here in La Mirada, students are going door-to-door, endeavoring to share Christ with others. We feel a responsibility to let the people of this community know the reality of our Saviour. DR. C hase : It’s exciting to see how the Lord is leading. This is why we all appreciate the prayerful sup port of God's people for the students, faculty, staff, administration and Board of Biola. moved so that man has free access into the very presence of the Lord. This makes him a member of the Body of Christ which is the New Testament Church. Our Lord then becomes our peace (Eph. 2:14). The Greek verb from which peace comes means to join. To make peace, therefore, means to join together that which is sep arated. Sin separates man from God and man from man. This is why He is our peace. There is a wonderful reconciliation which has been effect ed. The partition that existed be tween Jew and Gentile has now been broken down because we believe in Him as our own personal Saviour. DR. C hase : Tim Stranske is Vice President of our Biola College Stu dent Body. He has a number of op portunities to work directly with both faculty and his fellow-students. Re cently, we had an important Campus project where key student leaders were speaking on very significant topics. Tim, what was the purpose of this activity? T im S transke : While we have chapel services each day, there has been a concern that such practice be relevant and not just ritual. We have wanted our students to become in volved themselves. The same was true with our last Day of Prayer. We all got into cars early in the morning and went to the homes of faculty and administrators to eat breakfast and share in small groups’ p e r s o n a l prayer and fellowship. Later, we re turned to the Campus for special meetings and prayer services. D r . C hase : Because there are many important issues today, can you tell us about the Student-Faculty CURRENT COMMENT J.
