■ BREED Brangus are (3/8) Brahman and (5/8) Angus according to By-Laws of International Brangus Breeders Association. Ultrablacks are registered composite animals with validated and documented lineage that are between 12.5% and 87.5% Brangus breeding. VigorMax™ is a trademarked name by Town Creek Farm to identify animals that are 50% Brahman and 50% Angus. They also are identified as half-bloods. ■ PERCENT ANGUS Percent Angus and Brahman stated on each lot as determined by DNA testing with Igenity® Indicus by Neogen. ■ EPDS EPDs are an estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for a particular trait. BW Birth Weight. Predicts size of calf. CED Calving Ease Direct is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire's calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. WW Weaning Weight. YW Yearling Weight Milk Milk TM Total Maternal (one-half weaning plus milk) CEM Calving Ease Maternal is expressed in weight as a difference in percentage of unassisted births with higher values indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire's daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires. SC Scrotal Circumference REA Ribeye Area IMF % Intramuscular Fat HEIFER PREG Heifer Pregnancy EPD measures the probability that a cow will have a calf as a two-year-old. STAYABILITY measures the probability that a cow will still be in the herd at six years old. COW WT. Mature Cow Weight EPD is a prediction of the cow’s weight as a five-year-old with adjustments for age and body condition score. TI Terminal Index is a function of birth, weaning, and yearling weights, milk, ultrasound, ribeye area and intramuscular fat. FI Fertility Index will be a function of the heifer pregnancy, stayability, mature cow weight, and intramuscular fat, among other fertility measurements.
■ HEIFER BULL Bulls marked heifer bulls (upper right hand corner of each bull lot) are suitable to use on virgin heifers. ■ BULL-AI Bull was conceived by artificial insemination. ■ BULL-N Bull was conceived by natural bull service. ■ BULL-ET Bull was conceived from embryo and raised by recipient dam.
■ POLLED/SCURS Smooth polled or scurs. ■ INDIVIDUAL BULL PERFORMANCE BIRTH WEIGHT is actual birth weight of the bull.
WEANING WEIGHTS are adjusted to 205 days (weaning weight). Bulls were weaned in different contemporary groups and some were raised at different environmental locations. These factors should be considered when comparing weaning weights. YEARLING WEIGHTS are actual weights on ultrasound dates or adjusted to 365 days of age. ■ AGE OF DAM Age of Dam is the age of the bull’s mother (dam) when she calved (with the bull lot being sold). ■ ACTUAL YEARLING ULTRASOUND Measurements listed are actual ultrasound measurements taken by Donnie Robertson in April 2025 and November 2024. The measurements are not adjusted for age. FAT (also called fat thickness or backfat) is an external fat measurement in inches taken between the 12th and 13th ribs. IMF Intramuscular fat (IMF) is measured as a percentage of fat. Percent IMF is an indicator trait for marbling. REA/CWT Ribeye area per hundred weight is calculated in square inches of ribeye area per 100 lbs. of weight (cwt) at ultrasound. ■ IN-HERD INDEXES Town Creek Farm produces an in-herd analysis of the Town Creek Farm bull offering on adjusted phenotypic data collection points. These numbers represent a validation of the individual animal rankings of the Town Creek Farm bull offering. Ranking is from 0 (lowest) to 1.0 (highest). CEI Calving Ease. Average Calving Ease Index of bulls cataloged is .45. (higher index number indicates greater calving ease.) GI Growth. Average Growth Index of bulls cataloged is .53. FI Fertility. Average Maternal Index of bulls cataloged is .51. CI Carcass. Average Carcass Index of bulls cataloged is .46.
