Who Gets to Be Mothers of Town Creek Farm Bulls?

Ensuring that the feet and leg structure are solid is truly fundamental in our herds. A cow’s four legs are her primary means of movement, supporting her daily activities. Having strong, healthy feet and mobility is essential for cows to comfortably travel across pastures for food, water, and breeding opportunities, which also contribute to their overall longevity in the herd. We evaluate feet every year for yearling heifers and cows, and any cow that shows signs of unsoundness is thoughtfully removed to maintain the health and well-being of our herd. We are committed to caring for our animals with the utmost attention and responsibility. Our cows need to have healthy udders and good suspensions, produce enough milk, and be protective mothers to stay as a part of the herd. The way a cow delivers milk is one of the most important traits we look at. Every cow and heifer is scored for teat and udder quality when they calve. Cows who do not meet these standards, are removed from the herd after weaning. Cow docility and behavior truly shape our herd. Disruptive cows leave the ranch. Bad dispositions can be inherited, learned, or caused by how we manage them. We have the power to influence all three aspects. Every cow that is open is removed from our herd. You’ll be surprised how uniform and consistent your cowherd will become by culling open cows. Cows that survive the test of bringing a calf to the weaning pens every year are cows that fit and thrive in your environment. Fertility cannot be treated as a secondary trait specifically if you are supplying breeding animals to customers. Our cows never have a chance NOT to be in production. When a female does not breed, no other trait matters . Dry cows are removed from the herd. They're not the same as open cows. A dry cow was once confirmed pregnant through palpation, but unfortunately, she lost her calf either before or during calving season. These freeloader cows are promptly culled from our system. Every cow that becomes a dam of a sale bull has tested negative for Johnes. Any positive cows and their calves have been removed from our herd. UNLEASH THE POWER OF TOWN CREEK FARM BULLS
