]yg jy? PRACTICAL METHODS OF PERSONAL WORK for DEFENDERS o f the FAITH Lesson Two THE BELIEVER’S BUSINESS “ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and or dained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

The great business of the church (which includes, of course, every saved man and woman, young or old) is to save the lost (Luke 19:10) “ For the Son of man is come to seek and save that which is lost.” This was the work of the Lord Jesus. It was the purpose for which He came into the world (John 10:10). “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” This is a lost world. All men are sinners and can never spend eternity with God unless they have His nature (Rom. 8 : 8 ). “ So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” They must be like Him (John 3:3) “Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be bora again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” They must be bom from above (John 3:7) “Marvel not that I said unto you, Ye must be bora again.” God loves men and wants to save them (John 3:16) “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only be gotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (1 Tim. 2:4) “ Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Pet. 3:9) “ The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsufferipg to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Christians have been chosen by God for business for God (John 15:16)

As Christ was sent into the world to save the lost, so He says He sends us into the world for the same purpose (John 17:18) “ As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I sent them into the world.” Over ninety per cent of all men who go into business, fail. But there is no failure for those who take up definite business for God (Isa. 55:10, 11) “ For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater; “ So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” NOW is the time for work (John 9:4) “ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day; the night cometh, when no man can work.” GOOD WAGES are assured for WORKERS (John 4-:36) “ And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal; that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.” T. If you have not already enlisted in the army of “ Defenders of the Faith,” turn to Page 466, sign the coupon which you will find there and send it in. “ Ammunition” and suggestions for carrying on the fight will be sent to you. If you are already a “ De fender” then we are sure we do not need to remind you that the Lord is depending on you to bring in recruits,

B I B L E S W A N T E D ! We are constantly having calls for Bibles from missionaries, native workers, and converts who are without the means to purchase them. We have no fund from which we can supply this demand, as the amount necessary to supply our own evangelistic workers is very large. However, we shall be very glad to pass on to those needing them any USED Bibles which may be sent to us for the purpose. Send to Mr. H. G. Dean, Manager, Biola Book Room, 536-558 S. Hope Street, Los Angeles, California, marking the package plainly, “ For free distribution where needed.”
