we are truly stricken dumb. And it will be well if, at such a time, we do what David did. Outside of God’s sanctuary, we shall find nothing but darkness. Inside of the sanctuary, we shall find a great light, for it is the place of the golden candlesticks and of the Shekinah glory. There is no room for despair, there fore, even in the time of despair. For we learn in the sanctuary that God ever liveth and that He may èver be the hope of His people. Whether or not we understand His providence, we may understand Him, for the holy place reveals Him to us as the in finitely wise and loving God. Happy, therefore, the man who can say, how ever great his perplexity and pain may be: “Thy way, O God, is in the sanc tuary; who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God who doest wonders; Thou hast declared Thy strength among the people!”
