Once upon a time in a loud, messy forest, there lived a very grumpy old stump named Stumpy. Stumpy was not your ordinary stump; he was a stump with an attitude, and oh boy, did he love to complain!

Every morning, the cheerful birds would chirp, and the

squirrels would scamper around playing their silly

games. But Stumpy? He just grumbled and moaned, “Too noisy, too happy, too much scurrying about! Bah!”

One bright morning, a

mischievous wind blew through the forest, carrying with it a fluttery, chattery leaf named Leafy. Leafy landed smack on Stumpy's head. “Hello, grumpy stump!” Leafy giggled. “Ready to play?”

“Off with you!” Stumpy snapped, but Leafy wouldn’t budge. Instead, Leafy called over more leaves, and soon Stumpy was covered in a giggling pile of green.

As Stumpy grumbled under his leafy hat, a little rabbit named Remy hopped by. Remy was in a bit of a pickle; he had lost his way and couldn’t find his burrow. Seeing Stumpy, he asked, “Excuse me, Mr. Stump, could you help me find my home?”

“Can’t you see I’m busy being miserable? Scram, you fluffy annoyance!” Stumpy barked.

Poor Remy’s eyes welled up with tears as he hopped away, but not before dropping a very important looking map. Stumpy, feeling a rare spark of curiosity, peeked at the map. It was a treasure map, leading to a hidden stash of delicious carrot cakes!

Suddenly, Stumpy had an idea. What if he could trade the map for some peace and quiet? He called Remy back, his tone

softer this time, “Young bunny,

perhaps I was too hasty. I’ll help you find your burrow if you help me with this map.”

Remy’s face lit up, and together with Stumpy’s reluctant guidance, they followed the map. Along the way, Stumpy learned to listen (a bit) and even shared a chuckle or two with Remy over silly leaf jokes.

Finally, they found the treasure spot, and as Remy dug up the carrot cakes, he smiled at Stumpy, “You know, Mr. Stump, you’re not too stumpy when you’re not so grumpy.”

Stumpy couldn’t help but smile back, realising that the day was indeed brighter with a friend and a few laughs. He even invited the birds and squirrels to share in their feast, and for the first time, the noise seemed just right.
