A YEAR OF GROWTH AND GRATITUDE Reflecting on 2023’s Lessons

It isn’t easy to believe that 2023 is already almost behind us. I want to thank Horizon Physical Therapy’s patients and staff for making this a great year. Though it came with challenges, we were able to rise above and provide the people who rely on us with the care they deserve. Unfortunately, we lost several employees this year. Multiple front desk staff left the practice — primarily for good reasons, like moving or attending school. It was bittersweet to let them go, and we wish them all the best. Meanwhile, PT Dr. Wade left when she moved back to California. Rotating through staff is part of doing business, but it always causes some hiccups and requires creative problem-solving. “Though it came with challenges, we were able to rise above and provide the people who rely on us with the care they deserve.” We don’t know when we’ll replace Dr. Wade. The industry standard for hiring a physical therapist is 8–12 months because PTs usually stay where they practice. Eventually, I plan to build a reputation where physical therapists seek us out instead of vice versa. In the meantime, we’re doing everything required to ensure our patients continue receiving top-quality care. In addition to navigating the various changes, I learned a lot about myself this year. I constantly felt too busy, and my coach helped me realize that I was spending too much time on tasks I shouldn’t be handling in the first

place. They monopolized my workdays and prevented me from doing what I needed to help the business grow.

Some of the matters were outside my control. For example, we had to undergo a credentialing process that would allow other physical therapists at the practice to sign off on their own notes. Until that was completed, I had to review and sign files for every patient who walked through the door, whether I personally treated them or not. It was a lot of work for little payoff, so I’m glad it’s now resolved and has freed up some of my time. In other cases, I’ve had to learn to trust people and hold them accountable. Entrepreneurs like to be in control, so it can be difficult for us to stop trying to have our hands in everything. Taking a hard look at myself and how I was spending my time has been good for my productivity, my personal life, and the business. I’m also working on my decision-making abilities. My coach observed that once I make up my mind about something, I go all in, and nothing can dissuade me from my goal. But making that decision in the first place has traditionally been a challenge. I’m learning to trust myself more and act with urgency, and I’ve made many decisions I put off in the past. My top priority in the new year is hiring and retaining employees who match our practice’s values and commitment to our patients. As I embark on that journey, I’m excited to bring this year’s lessons into 2024 and continue down my path of personal and professional growth. Thank you again for your continued support, and I’ll see you in the new year!

But keeping up with this constant evolution can be a challenge for anyone, regardless of how long technology has been a part of their lives. That’s why so many myths exist about technology; what was true five years ago may no

If you’re a fan of using this browser setting for privacy’s sake, we hate to be the ones to tell you privacy/incognito modes aren’t private. This browser feature erases cookies and tracking data once you close the window, but your internet service provider and the websites you visited all know you were there. This means the only place your browsing won’t appear is in your device’s history. So, not only can someone find your history, but if you’re using this browser setting to protect your information from hackers, it doesn’t work. Sites can still see your unique browser’s “fingerprint” and use that to target you. NO. 3: ONCE YOU DELETE A FILE, IT’S GONE. This one may sound counterintuitive, but it’s true. When you “delete” something on your computer, your computer doesn’t actually destroy it. Instead, it simply flags the file as available to overwrite whenever you need the space. Until the computer officially writes new data over the file, it’s still there (and can be found).

NO. 1: CHARGING YOUR DEVICE FOR A LONG TIME WILL RUIN ITS BATTERY. Once upon a time, for many laptops, cellphones, tablets, or other devices, this was true. However, as technology advanced, so did its batteries. Now, most devices

Physical therapy aims to alleviate these issues by employing exercises designed to increase flexibility and range of motion. LONG-TERM BENEFITS For surgeries like total hip or knee arthroplasties, the recovery process can be lengthy, taking weeks to months, but physical therapy can make the extended recovery period more manageable and effective.
