Bobst Hot Stamper (CONT’D FROM PAGE 70)
The industry began investing in recycling in the early 1970s and hasn’t looked back. AF&PA reports the paper industry has completed or announced nearly $7 billion in manufacturing investments from 2019 to 2025 that will use more than 9 million tons of recovered fiber. The recycling of corrugated boxes is a success story — one that demonstrates our industry’s commitment to re- spect the environment, measure our progress and contrib- ute to a circular economy.
ules can be directly plugged into one of two connecting boxes on each side of the machine. Bobst has also introduced the Digital Makeready Tool (DMT). Inspired by the Digital Inspection Table quality con- trol solution, the pdf of any embellishment job can be sent to the DMT, where the digital layout is projected directly onto the honeycomb chase.
Bobst Hot Stamper Features New Hologram Application
Mex, Switzerland based Bobst announced a new version of the hot stamper dedicated to the application of holo- grams. Featuring a new design, the NOVAFOIL 106H of- fers converters flexibility and efficiency for hot stamping transfer. Bobst introduced the NOVAFOIL two years ago as the first inline hot film stamping machine that offered an ad- vanced cross-foiling option. It also offered a new level of embellishment quality with its redesigned platen section — to help ensure longer dwell time, stable platen temperature and higher pressure.

This projection indicates where the dies must be po- sitioned which helps eliminate lengthy setup checks. The DMT shortens setups and increases accuracy to ensure stamping register quality, which in turn reduces the num- ber of waste sheets. Sappi NA Awards Employee Social Impact Initiatives Boston, Massachusetts based Sappi North America, a pro- ducer and supplier of diversified paper, packaging prod- ucts and pulp, announced the winners of its 2023 Employ- ee Ideas that Matter (EITM) grant program, donating up to $50,000 to causes that are important to employees in the environmental, healthcare, educational and communi- ty-centric spaces. Inspired by over two decades of success from its Ideas that Matter (ITM) grant program, Sappi established EITM in 2016. The annual program recognizes and supports vol- unteering efforts of employees for nonprofit organizations in their communities through direct funding. Employees are encouraged to nominate charity projects that benefit their communities to a panel of judges composed of senior leadership. “We believe in creating a thriving, sustainable world for everyone. The EITM program has allowed employees at all levels to take an active role in driving our mission of positive social impact forward,” said Patti Groh, Director of Communications, Sappi North America. This year, the program was selected as a winner for Community Service and Corporate Social Responsibility in the Communitas Awards for providing direct funding to
Bobst Novafoil 106H
Bobst wanted to provide an option for converters who specialize in this area of hot transfer. The result is a new system with individual hologram modules, which can be mounted on rails on the NOVA- FOIL 106. With up to two rails and five modules each, 10 hologram reels of maximum 100 mm width can now convert jobs which previously required two runs, in one single pass. To help guarantee the zero-fault quality, the NOVAFOIL 106H has been equipped with a register for every reel to ensure application precision. The film advance is controlled via an electronic system and advance shafts with pressure rollers help ensure per- fect film tension. The modules can be positioned rapidly, and the holo- gram reels can be introduced within seconds. The mod-
