Hometown St.Thomas December 2024

The Rotary Club of St. Thomas’ Open House by Peri Hayes The Rotary Club of St. Thomas’ Open House is on the horizon, with Mark Holmes discussing the details. To begin, he introduces his involvement with this group: “I’ve been involved in Rotary since 2010. I’m relatively new to this club -- I think, three or four years. I am currently the President, second year.” Asked what inspired this debuting event, Mark delightedly responds, “We were talking about it. Then recently, we went through a visioning process to plan where we’re going to be in the next years. There the idea was mentioned again, so we decided that we have got to do it. What we really want to do is let people know about our Rotary Club, what we have done and what we are planning on doing in the community. A lot of what we do is hand out money each year to different groups, like Destination Church and The Grace Cafe. We like to support any big project that aligns with what Rotary is about. We gave a sizable donation to Hospice of Elgin St. Thomas, Hospital Foundation, Project Tiny Hope and we also support smaller groups, The Salvation Army and YMCA, as well as a lot of international projects.” Their Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22nd from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A slideshow will be playing in sequence to complement an array of displays throughout the venue, which will offer insight into the Rotary’s various avenues: international projects, Youth Programs, their ambition to care for the local community through supporting Christmas Care, Inn Out of the Cold St. Thomas- Elgin and beyond.

Merry Christmas from your Chiropractors

“We are sending out selective invitations,” Mark announces, “Though anybody is welcome!” Mark concludes by describing what personally excites him about this celebration, offering, “The chance to share what our club does with the citizens of St. Thomas and area, because a number of people have never heard of Rotary before and what our club does in the community. This is a chance to introduce ourselves, form connections and share why we enjoy being part of our Rotary Club.” This event will be held at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 275 Highview Drive.
