The point which the W orker was trying to impress upon th e R abbi's h ea rt and m ind was th a t this passage (which many of th e old-time Rabbinical w riters claim refers to Messiah) clearly teaches th a t Messiah would be both human and Divine; for Divine as well as hum an titles are here ascribed to Him. This line of reasoning paves the way for proving th a t Jesus Christ, who claimed to be God, as well as Man, was ju st the kind of person predicted in th is Old-Testament passage. W ith th is thought in m ind the w riter fu rth er asked th e meaning of the Hebrew word “Ov.” The answer was “F a th e r,” and th e word “Add” means what? After some hesitation and quibbling the Rabbi answered, “Ave- Add” means “E tern al F a th e r.” It was then pointed out •that th is “E tern al F a th e r” was no other th an the “ child- born” and “The Son given.” Again the Rabbi was referred to Genesis 32, where it was pointed out th a t God appeared on earth in th e form of a Man, and w restled w ith Jacob. Jacob’s testimony was, “ I have seen God face to face.” Reasoning then th a t if God appeared in olden days in th e form of Man it should no t be thought strang e or impossible for Him to do so again in la tte r years in the person of Christ. As Messiah was to be God incarnate and Christ was shown to have fitted the Old Testament description of Mes siah, then Jesus Christ must not only be the Jew ish Mes siah, bu t must also be the God of Israel as well. At th is junctu re the old Rabbi was obliged to leave, but before doing so he told the w riter he would be welcome to call a t his home. As he left we felt certain th a t th e Spirit of God would impress upon his mind and h eart the tru th s discussed, and use to God’s glory the marked Hebrew and English Old Testam ent which he carried away w ith him. We earnestly request th e prayers of our readers for this old Rabbi and his daughter. WORK IN THE SHOPS Marion H. Reynolds, Supt.—-Meetings Held in Shops, Factories, Car- Barns and Fire-Engine Houses in Los Angeles RIENDS who are interested in th e work of the Shop D epartm ent will be glad to know of the pro gress which is being made in the extension work as carried on over the Los Angeles-Salt Lake Di vision of th e Union Pacific. Much credit should be given to Mr. J. F. Long, Superin tenden t of Motor Power and Machinery, for th e splendid cooperation of his whole force of men, who have helped in such a splendid way to make the meetings a blessing to those concerned. L ast month the superintendent of the Shop Department went over th e system, speaking to the men a t Las Vegas, Nevada. Here, through the special efforts of several men, including the Foreman there, we were able to reach a large number of men a t th e noon hour; Such in terest was shown in the noon meetings th a t it was decided to have one at night to which' th e men m ight bring th e ir friends. This, despite the fact tha}: it was planned on th e spur of the mo ment, seemed to be a blessing to all. Leaving Las Vegas, we next w ent to Milford, U tah, where we had one of the best times we have ever had in the work among men. The first meeting held was at th e Methodist Church, where, through the cooperation of B rother B. B. Bess and the shop men, we were able to have a splendid hearing for the Gospel. The following noon we spoke at

th e Shop, where the men expressed th e ir appreciation of the work and Word, and urged us to come to them once a month. Two or th ree o ther places were visited, where the Gos pel was preached and th e seed sown. One town along the road has been laid especially upon our hearts. A town of about 350 inhabitants, a railro ad center, w ithout a P ro te sta n t church. Two churches are th ere but both are closed, having no services except Sunday School occasion ally. It is here th a t we need a rea l work of God started Already we have interested several in th e m atter of coming out to the services, and w ith the cooperation of th e friends in the shop we hope to have a splendid hearing for the Gos pel. One friend has given us a large supply of Gospels, and it is hoped th a t we may have th e privilege of reaching every person in town w ith th is little book which was w ritten th a t they m ight believe th a t Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and believing m ight have life in His name. He was ju st a little boy, but, oh, how atten tiv ely he lis tened to th is message of the Cross. F ath e r had died only a few years ago. Yes, he wanted to be saved, bu t how could he? Handing him this little book we showed him the verses— look them up if you wish— John 1:12; 3:16; 5 :24 ; 6:37; 14:1-4. Realizing his need he was then led to be lieve and accept the Word, and we saw him rejoicing in the Word. This is what we wish to do In all our work, so pray for us. P ray also th a t we may have an abundan t supply of the rig h t kind of literatu re ,—Bibles, Gospels and trac ts to place in the reading rooms along the line, where the men may read the story of salvation. “How a word of God will cheer K indle hope and banish fea r Soothe a pain o r tak e away th e sting of guile Oh how much we all may do In th e world we trav el th rough If we keep th e h e a rt singing all th e while.” HE following incident occurred one Wednesday evening a t th e close of a prayer meeting. The speaker invited all present to tu rn around and shake hands w ith the one next to them . My friend who related th is story told me he found him self looking into the eyes of a bright, rad ian t faced young man. A glad sm ile and hearty grip, a cheery word and a friend ship a t once formed. They left th e meeting together, stopping for a little bite to eat. The young man bowed his head and retu rned th ank s audibly for th e food. Leaving th e cafe he suddenly excused him self and ran afte r two sailor lads and handed them a Gospel tra c t w ith another b right smile and a hand grasp. Then resum ing his talk along sp iritu al lines he spoke freely and lovingly of th e joy of doing personal w ork; told of his experience w ith an aged man and how he had the joy of leading him to an intelligent acceptance and confession of th e Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour. They stopped a t his house and as th e tim e eame to p a rt he turned to my friend w ith so rt of an apologetic sm ile and said, “My crude ways of w itnessing for my dear Saviour must seem to one of your experience very raw and simple. True, I don’t know much about it, as your can readily -see, but I ’m so anxious to be used of Him in w inning souls.
