Wortley Road Public School students take the 519Pledge by Josh Jones The 519Pledge is a community endeavour that occurs from October 1st to November 15th each year. The initiative was brought to light to change the conversation around homelessness leading into the colder months of the year. 519Pursuit encourages folks in the community to take the pledge to obtain 519 pairs of new socks to donate. A group of Grade 7 students at Wortley Road PS have taken on this initiative with the school goal of collecting 519 pairs of socks. Learn more about the 519Pledge at www.519pursuit.ca/pledge

Wortley Road PS ‘pirates’ win best school float by Josh Jones Grade 7 and 8 students from Wortley Road Public School participated in the Halloween in the Village parade and won best school float with their Pirates of the Caribbean -themed float and dance. The students built the boat last school as part of the Stem2Stern program. Stem2Stern is an organization that educates young people in the crafts of woodworking and boatbuilding.
