are all looking forward to decorating and gathering with friends and family for feasting. With it being a very busy time, we may often forget the risks and potential hazards to our pets. Ingestion of poisonous foods, or adverse reactions to inappropriate foods being fed, are amongst the most common reasons for veterinary visits around the holidays. Pets who are fed human foods, or foods that are rich in fats, are at a higher risk of developing pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas). The pancreas can easily become inflamed when working harder to produce more digestive enzymes to digest excessive amounts of fat that are present in the diet.
