HCA Upper School Student/Parent Handbook 2025–2026

Parental Involvement Teachers are selected not only for their instructional skills and academic preparedness, but also for their love for and understanding of children. As those engaged by you to assist with the educating of your child, we benefit greatly when insights about your child are shared with us. Please keep in close communication with us throughout the year and not only when formal conferences are scheduled. A Christian school does not relieve the parents of their God-given responsibility. Rather the purpose of our school is to serve as an important aid to, and extension of, the home. If the home and school are both Christ-centered Kingdom environments, the children will receive the best education possible. We are in this together! God can and will bless this unified effort! Telephone Calls A parent may call the office at any time to leave a message for the student. The School Board The School Board is the chief policy-making body of the school and comprises no fewer than 6 members. Because Heritage Christian Academy is a parochial school, a ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, the board is a self perpetuating body and not one elected from the constituency at large. Members serve in staggered three year terms with a maximum of two consecutive terms. All board members must acknowledge the Westminster Confession of Faith and be approved by the Session of the Church. Board members include parents, Redeemer Session members, and potentially other friends of the school who have demonstrated a love for HCA and a humble desire to serve. Church Attendance Initial enrollment requires prior evidence from the parents of an applying student that they regularly attend a local evangelical church, that they personally trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and that their personal lives and those of their children exemplifies this faith. This evidence shall be through a school-provided reference form completed by the pastor of their church, through written responses on the application form and through a personal interview with both parents. It is required for continued enrollment that church attendance is regular for parents and child(ren), and that the family take their part in the Christian community in general. Only in this way can the school assist a family. The school does not exist to provide a substitute for the Christian family in the life of a child. Church attendance and Christian virtues are lifetime patterns which are developed early in a child, and the development of those patterns are the primary responsibility of the parents. Attendance at a Christian school is intended to reinforce patterns already established by the parents. Confirmation of regular church attendance and is made each year through the re-enrollment process.
